The triumphs and trials of PGR administration

Presenter: Heather Lee, Assistant Registrar (Research)

Institution: The University of Huddersfield

Email: Heather.Lee@hud.ac.uk

Format: Interactive : a breakout session where participants have to undertake one or more tasks.

This breakout is now full

Second Presenter: Cathie Raw, PGR Project Co-ordinator

Email: c.m.raw@hud.ac.uk

Abstract:

In so many (perhaps all) HEIs, PGR provision vies for attention and precious resource with taught provision, and systems are designed for the majority. We would like to

facilitate an interactive session to:

  • Share the triumphs and trials we have had in fitting the PGR square peg into institutional round holes
  • Encourage the group to problem solve areas of PGR admin or service provision that are currently challenging them

The session would be of interest to anyone who is involved in managing the PGR student lifecycle.

The intended outcomes of the session are that:

  • delegates will be able to approach the challenges of improving PGR delivery positively and creatively, even if the systems don’t fit!
  • delegates will understand how to influence and implement demonstrable change across an organisation using existing resources

Audience:

Anyone with responsibility for PGR administration.
