Work intensity is on the rise in the UK and can lead to higher rates of burnout. The UK Higher Education sector, and professional services staff specifically, has been under-researched in the burnout literature. This presentation explores the results of a 2022 MSc research project, which sought evidence of current work intensity and burnout levels in the sector and identified practical implications for HEIs, employers and practitioners who want to prevent and remedy burnout.
