Postponed SROC 2020 announcement as at:

March 2020.

Further to our communications last week, it is with disappointment, sadness and regret that the SROC Steering Committee has taken the difficult decision to indefinitely postpone the Student Records Officers’ Conference 2020, scheduled to take place from April 6 – April 8 at the University of Huddersfield, in light of the growing concerns around the recent global outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

All delegates who have already made payments will receive full refunds in due course.

Government advice with regard to large gatherings and travel arrangements issued by Public Health England and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office have not changed in the interim. However, a number of our community have been constrained by local advice against all but essential travel and these concerns and restrictions are likely to grow over the coming weeks. Postponing the conference now to allow the situation to stabilise is felt to be the prudent decision.

The Committee will seek to identify the best way to bring together the SROC community for an alternative gathering and we will communicate with you about this in the fullness of time.

We were so looking forward to welcoming you to Huddersfield and believe we had an amazing line-up of plenary speakers, breakout sessions, optional visits and social events but in the current climate we feel that taking this decision now is the right thing to do to help keep our community safe. We hope to see you all at a SROC event in the not too distant future, whatever form that may take.

Should you have any queries in relation to this e-mail then please use the sroc@hud.ac.uk address.

Stay safe and take care.

On behalf of the SROC Steering Committee.
