Conference 2018 now open

Dear Colleagues

I am very pleased to announce that SROC 2018 is now open for bookings. Hosted by University of Hull, the conference will run from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 March 2018. A full conference schedule and booking form can be found at http://www.sroc.ac.uk/schedule/hull-university-2018.

We have some great speakers lined up for you, including Universities UK’s Greg Wade who will talk about “celebrating success when no one will listen”. We have also lined up Phil Batty Director of Public Engagement and Legacy for the of the Hull UK City of Culture team to share their experience of success on a national scale.

As always, we have a wide range of high-quality breakouts offered by our delegates and partner organisations – too numerous to mention them all, but covering hot topics such as GDPR, HECoS and HESA Data Futures, sprinkled with extenuating circumstances, postgraduate taught students, customer service and student funding. Of course, as you’d expect from SROC, we’ve made sure there’s a handful relating to data, systems and student records as well!

As with the last few years, a new-comers event will be provided late afternoon, with opportunities for old hands (and new) to network in the afternoon before we kick-off the conference. Accommodation this year will be provided by a variety of local hotels and the Conference Dinner will be held at Hull’s amazing award-winning aquarium, The Deep.

The fee this year will be £395 for the full conference, which includes access to all sessions, two nights’ accommodation, the Monday evening quiz hosted by Hull University’s Students’ Union, and the conference dinner. We hope you will agree this continues to make SROC accessible and great value for money. Other options (e.g. day delegate rates) are also available.

Full details are now available on the SROC website. Please take the time to read the conference information prior to making your booking and remember that, if you wish to pay by BACS, you will need to ensure you have a Purchase Order number ready to enter on your booking form.

We look forward to welcoming you to Hull in March!

Best wishes Chris Carpenter, SROC Secretary.

(On behalf of the SROC Steering Committee)
